Hello foodies, today the recipe is about a spicy side dish. During this rainy season, chicken lovers will love to eat hot and spicy chicken dish that makes them happy and feel good.


Now, let's talk about the chicken fry i.e., black chicken fry means pepper dry chicken.

Ingredients For Black Chicken Fry


For Masala Powder


1.Blac Pepper - 2 tbsp


2.Jeera - 2 tbsp


3.Coriander Seeds - 1 tbsp


4.Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tbsp


For Tempering


1.Broiler Chicken - 750 gm


2.Onion - 2 (Medium Sized)


3.Green Chilies - 3


4.Red Chilies - 3


5.Curry Leaves- few or 6 to 8


6.Garlic - 5 to 6 cloves


7.Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbsp


8.Oil - 2 tbsp


9.Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tbsp


10.Salt - As Per Taste or 1 tbsp


Steps to prepare the black chicken fry


Steps for making masala powder


1.In a pan, add 2 tbsp of black pepper.



2.Now add 2 tbsp of jeera.



3.Add 1 tbsp of coriander seeds.



4.Add 1/2 tbsp of fennel seeds.



5.Roast the spices in a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes but don't burn it.



6.Let it cool down for few minutes.



7.Now blend the spices into fine powder. You can do it either manually, or in a mixer jar. I chose to do in a manual way.



8.Now black chicken fry masala powder is ready.



Steps to prepare black chicken fry.


1.Heat a pan, add 2 tbsp of oil.



2.Add few curry leaves.



3.Add crushed garlic cloves.



4.Let the garlic get brownish.



5.Now add 3 red chilies.



6.Add 3 chopped green chilies.



7.Add 2 medium sized sliced onions .



8.Fry the onions until they smoothens.



9.Add 2 tbsp of ginger garlic paste.



10.Fry the mixture until the raw smell goes off.



11.Take 750gm of broiler chicken and wash them.



12.Add washed chicken to the mixture.



13.Add 1/4 tbsp of turmeric powder.



14.Add salt as per your taste or 1 tbsp.



15.Give a good mix.



16.Now add little water to it.



17.Close the lid and boil for 3 minutes.



18.Now, add the roasted masala powder to the pan.



19.Mix it thoroughly until they coat completely.



20.Enjoy! the hot and spicy pepper chicken fry or black chicken fry as a side dish for lunch or for dinner.



Special Info:


  • Increase the ingredients, if you are going to serve more people.
  • If you want more spicy, add more pepper.
  • Try to use skinless chicken for this chicken fry.
